Our approach to health and wellbeing is simple.

We want to understand what your body is doing; we want to understand what your body is not doing and then we want to understand the connection between these two.

Getting things back on track

We can then determine how your body has made its way from where it was to where it is now.

This helps us see the steps we need to take to get things back on track. We use our experience as researchers to take a deep dive into what is going on for you so that we can piece together your health puzzle. This lets us get you back to thriving with the least amount of effort, in the shortest possible time frame and we promise we won’t make you take handfuls of supplements or only eat kale and brown rice!

Our naturopaths prefer to look at you, rather than your diagnosis.

Far too often, we see people come in with long lists of symptoms and diagnoses, but actually when we strip it back, we find similar physiological processes that are just taking place in different areas of the body. And the interesting thing about looking at your health through our naturopathic lens is that to us, it’s all connected! (Well, not just us – the research backs it up too!) Many of our patients find that even though we haven’t been working on a specific area, it gets better as part of the process. We like to think of it as a little bit of naturopathic magic called getting-you-body-back-in-balance.

What is Naturopathy?

Naturopathy is a holistic and inclusive system of care that targets the root cause of your health concerns. When you see a naturopath, their work is governed by the 6 Principles of Naturopathy.

primum non nocere – First, Do No Harm

First and foremost, the role of a naturopath is to support the individual’s health and wellness and avoid creating any additional stress or harm through the treatments or medicines prescribed. A naturopath will work with you to support your body to overcome the disease/symptoms rather than suppressing them.

That being said, in some instances symptomatic management (acute care) may be employed in the short term to relieve pain, inflammation or control symptoms that are impacting your quality of life. Once these symptoms have been controlled, a naturopath will then move on to correct the underlying imbalances.

vis medicatrix naturae – The Healing Power of Nature

Our body is amazing! It possesses an inherent ability to establish, correct and maintain optimal health and wellness. The role of the naturopath is to facilitate this process, identifying any obstacles that prevent the body from healing itself.

This also extends to the types of treatments that a naturopath will prescribe. Drawing on the healing power of nature, a naturopath uses herbal medicine, nutritional and diet therapy and lifestyle modifications to treat the individual and restore balance in their health.

tolle causam – Discover and Treat the Cause, Not Just the Effect

Like warning lights on your car dashboard, signs and symptoms develop in our body to let us know that some things aren’t quite right! Treating the symptoms in isolation may give you temporary relief, but if you don’t address the cause of why they are there in the first place, the problem will just come back, sometimes stronger, more frequent or worse than before.

Take bloating for example. You could take an antacid or ‘de-gas’ pill every time you eat, but for long term management and resolution, a naturopath will look at nutritional intake, the balance of bowel bacteria, stress levels and stomach acid production amongst others. Once the cause has been identified, it can be accurately targeted so health and wellbeing is restored.

tolle totum – Treat the Whole Person

We’re complex creatures!

Our health, wellbeing and energy levels are often the result of a number of things all happening at once – after all, our lives don’t take place in a bubble! A naturopath works to treat the whole person, taking into account the complex interaction between physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual and environmental aspects.

By treating the whole person, a naturopath can often treat multiple things at once, especially when it is combined with treating the cause as opposed to just the symptoms.

docere – The Physician is a Teacher

“Doctor” is derived from the Latin “Docere” which means “to teach, and one who is trained in the healing arts”.

A naturopath will teach you what needs to be done to regain (and sustain) health and wellness. As a naturopath, Rebecca will inspire, motivate and empower you to take charge of your health for yourself, providing you with the tools and skills to achieve wellness.

praevenire – Prevention is the best “cure”

As the age old saying goes ‘an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’. Once a naturopath has helped you restore your health and energy, they want to keep you there! Many naturopaths refer to this as ‘wellness’, where the emphasis is on retaining health and balance, rather than constantly fighting off disease. This principle often combines with docere – the physician is the teacher, as a naturopath will teach you ways to keep yourself well.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have some questions about how sessions work, costs or how to get started?

It’s as simple as booking your appointment! This can be done through our secure online booking system.

Your consultation will typically go for an hour (or 75 minutes if you have chosen the comprehensive testing option) and will involve your naturopath asking you lots of different questions about your health and current concerns. They will piece together what is going on and then take you through your treatment/management strategy. They will then arrange a follow up appointment, which is usually 2 – 4 weeks from your initial. If there is any additional testing/investigations that need to be done in between, your naturopath will take you through all these.

Find out more about how we work.

  • Standard initial consultation (60 minutes) – $220  (can be face to face or online)
  • Initial consultation with comprehensive testing (75 minutes) – $280 (can only be done face to face)
  • Report of Findings Consults (your first follow up – 45 minutes) – $160 (can be face to face or online)
  • Standard follow up (30 minutes) – $95
  • Comprehensive Follow up (45 minutes) – $160 (can be face to face or online)

It takes as long as it takes. While we would love to be able to give you a definitive ‘xx number of consults and you’ll be cured’ the reality is everyone is different and their bodies progress at different rates. As a very rough guide, we should be seeing some changes within 4 – 6 weeks but your naturopath will work closely with you to make sure things are moving in the right direction. If not, they will talk you through a variety of different options which may include more in-depth testing.

Our (physical) naturopathic clinic has recently had a tree change and moved from Surry Hills (Sydney) to Camden, roughly an hour from Sydney. Consults can be done face to face or you can take advantage of our telehealth options and speak to one of our naturopaths from anywhere in the world!
